For capacitive touch key applications, both QST and S-Touch families of products offer the following benefits:

The QST family of products uses a pure digital, firmware-based solution that implements Quantum's patented and field-proven charge-transfer QProx™ capacitive technology. Key features are:

QTouch™ technology for simple touch panels of up to 12 keys
QMatrix™ technology for high key counts in small packages
support for any combination of buttons, wheels and sliders
advanced processing techniques such as drift compensation, auto-calibration, and noise filtering
adjacent key suppression (AKS™) to ensure maximum useability
and control integrity
multifunction capabilities for contemporary user interfaces

S-Touch's finite state machine (FSM) architecture uses a dedicated and complete IC approach with its own distinctive features for a fast time-to-market solution.

robust and sensitive capacitance detection engine based on differential capacitance measurement

design flexibility using configurable automatic impedance calibration, adjustable touch variance and environmental variance for optimized calibration

direct user access to program the instruction sets and parameter settings

very fast IC sampling time (typically 2 ms) ensured by an optimized FSM architecture

innovative processing techniques to enhance user control:

- advanced data filtering (AFS)
- environmental tracking calibration (ETC)

touch sensor solution with very low power consumption (typically 5 µA per key)

ultra small packages for low key devices (QFN16 - 2.6 x 1.8 mm for 8 channels)
